The Marine Metre Squared team spent the day at Portobello in Dunedin for their Harbour Fun Day. It was lots of fun and despite the weather, we managed to get out and do a quick survey of the marine life with some budding citizen scientists.

We gave out plenty of free resources such as Rocky Shore Guides, colouring in books, leaflets, and information about the project.

It was great meeting everyone in the Portobello community and hearing how the Marine Metre Squared project could be used to connect the locals with their beautiful beach. It was also exciting and refreshing to see so many people - young and old - get excited about finding marine creatures during our demonstration.

Our website is now live, so sign up and start monitoring! We can't wait to see flags show up all over Dunedin on our survey map of all the places people have put down a quadrat.

Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter for more photos, information, and resources to get you out onto the beach!
