A Blast from the Past
The Otago Medical Research Foundation is the charity of choice for the Otago Rugby Football Union and our first joint venture will be a lunch on Sunday, 21st September – as a curtain raiser to the Otago vs Waikato match at the Forsyth Barr Stadium.
This event has been generously supported by John Faulks and his Southern Wide Real Estate team.
On the couch to answer questions and tell stories about rugby’s evolution from the amateur days through to the pay-for-play ranks from the mid-1990s onwards will be three Otago identities: Richard Knight (the most matches for Otago), John Timu (an Otago try-scoring record breaker) and Tony Gilbert (coach of the 1998 championship-winning team). There will be a two-course meal with a cash bar operating.
All funds raised will go towards establishing an additional scholarship in the Foundation’s 2014/2015 programme.
Lunch will get underway shortly after 12p.m. and will be finished in plenty of time for you to take your seats for the 2.35p.m. match kick-off.
