Dog with two Tails
This is a tale of two tails or more specifically a ‘Dog with Two Tails’. This is the unusual name for the café on Moray place Dunedin.
The café has only been open just over 2 years yet has already taken out the Hospitality New Zealand Award for Excellence, Best Cafe 2016.
What is the secret of such rapid success? One tale must be good and consistent food and coffee and warm welcome. The writer can attest to the excellence of the food and coffee. Food made with pride on the premises in a scratch kitchen.
However I said this is a tale of two tales and the quality of the food and coffee only tell one tale. The second tale to tell is DWTT acting as cultural hub in the city and there is a comprehensive wealth of evening entertainment with something to suit everyone. There are performances on most nights and range from Poetry to music of all genres, the schedule has also included comedy and burlesque cabaret all enjoyed by an appreciative and enthusiastic cliental. Perhaps one of the reasons the establishment does so well as a cultural hub is that the entertainment is not a token gesture as an afterthought to the food and drink. The staff and owner have a passion for the arts with several staff members playing in established bands and one or two even reading poetry at the venue. Two tales come together here to make a place well worth a visit.
