After what seems like an eternity, iconic New Zealand Roots group Trinity Roots are hitting the South Island for 2 shows only before heading back into the studio to finish off their much anticipated 3rd Full Length studio album. After a 5 year hiatus, the group reformed in 2010 due to a visceral 'karanga' from fans & festivals alike. All band members jumped at the potential of what could be & what is yet to come. TR's original drummer Riki Gooch decided to part ways & follow his path of producing and composing. So into these huge shoes came drummer, bassist, multi-instrumentalist & producer, Ben Wood (Newtown Rocksteady, Hikoikoi Reserve, Amiria Grenell, French For Rabbits).
With a new-found vigour, the band immediately set about writing compositions for the next album. The general ethos was to 'road-test' these songs before that went to print - hence this boutique escape from the North to the beautiful South!
The new songs have taken on a life of their own - a maturity and growth from the hey-day of a decade passed. The palette seems fuller yet still retaining the deep rooted capillaries into Papatuanuku.
TR will play Refuel, Dunedin Sept 12 & The Ferry Ale House CHCH Sept 13. Door Charge will be $35.
