Rotunda and Laurence Aberhart

by Insiders Dunedin

Late last year the acclaimed New Zealand artist Laurence Aberhart completed the final phase in a photographic series which he has been working on for over thirty years. This major exhibition of more than sixty prints brings together a series of World War One memorials that include a single figure, and in the process shrinks a sense of geographical and historical distance. ANZAC is the stunning result that will be launched at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery as part of the WW1 commemorations. Two dancers, Justin Haiu and Tupua Tigafua from The New Zealand Dance Company will perform an excerpt from the Company's full-length work 'Rotunda' that will be presented in Dunedin in 2015. This work, created by the company's Artistic Director Shona McCullagh in collaboration with Musical Director Don McGlashan, is timed to coincide with the 2014-2018 ANZAC Centenary.
