Everyone loves a good sausie roll, so we asked the Dunedin community their thoughts on who serves the city's best Sausage Roll. There were a number cafes and bakeries mentioned throughout the Dunedin and Mosgiel region, however, only five may make it onto our list. Choices varied from your classic bakery or corner shop sausage roll to gourmet reincarnations of the Kiwi classic pastry. Key factors that were mentioned commentors that created the ultimate sausage roll were soft pastry, tasty condiments, well-cooked onion and good quality meat.

Well the votes are in and the clear winner is.....


SPELT Bakery on Highgate has taken out the top spot. A number of people mentioned SPELT's delicious Lamb and Harissa sausage rolls as being their pick of the town. Located on Highgate in Maori Hill check out this popular bakery next time you are in the area. 


Croque-O-Dile In The Garden has comes in second place. Sit inside and look out over this popular part of the Dunedin Botanical Garden while you enjoy their top notch sausage rolls. 


The ever popular Starfish in St. Clair has claimed the third spot. 


CBD favourite The Perc on Lower Stuart Street holds the fourth spot in this Top 5 (Their sausage roll is picture above). 



The Cadbury World Cafe has come in a very close fifth place.
